"And when they had mocked him, they took off the robe, and put his own clothes on him, and led him away to be crucified." (Matthew 27:31)

And he endured humiliation, torture, and insults for our sake. In an instant he could have swept away the mockers and blasphemers and taken over the whole world. But he did not, for he entrusted himself to the grace and perfect will of his Father.

Can we comprehend this total surrender? No, absolutely not! Because we humans would never be able to live perfectly. We would never be able to resist the temptations of Satan. Only he could do this, and that is why he could save us from our sins. This was the only way he could earn his Father's grace for us. He died for us as the sacrifice who took all our sins upon himself.

And God allowed his only son to fall into the clutches of Death innocently for our sake. His love is so boundless. Yet we disappoint and grieve him every day with our unbelief, our behavior, our sins...

This painting of mine also wants to remind us of this.
