"I have taught you in the way of wisdom, I have led you in the right path." (Proverbs 4:11)
We are almost always faced with decisions in our lives. God knows our future because He knows the consequences of every decision we make and the impact they will have on our destiny. It is like a huge tree that branches upward again and again, and each branch leads somewhere else. God sees the entire tree of our lives and knows exactly where each branch ends. At the same time, He always leaves us the right to decide, that is, our free will. That is why it is not true that we are predestined! But that is also why we are responsible for each and every decision we make.
Who has not been faced with situations in life when they felt like they did not know what to do? Everyone has such situations in their lives. In fact, we can say that such situations are the majority. And who would not be happy if someone could see their future and know exactly what the best decision would be for them? Most of us believe that blind fate will decide our future...
But it is not so! There is indeed Someone who foresees the consequences of every possible decision we may make, and if we ask Him, He will show us the best possible path. How happy is the person who is wise enough to ask God for help before making his most difficult decisions, and thus be saved from the responsibility and consequences of wrong decisions. If we entrust ourselves to Him with all our heart and submit to His will, even if we may not see the meaning of it at first, we will never be disappointed.
But how can we understand His will? Well, if we are only curious about His will, but are not really willing to submit to it with all our heart, then no way. If we only want God to approve of our own wayward decision, then we are on the wrong path. In this way, we will never hear the word of the Holy Spirit. He only speaks to us in a way that we can clearly hear if we surrender ourselves to Him with our whole being. If we hold firmly to Him, we will notice the signs, the beacons, the open or closed doors. Then let us be guided by Him.
Let Him be our lighthouse, towering before us, as in my painting above. Let us never lose sight of Him, and then we will certainly not run aground...
